TEAM IMU FW, consisting of the members of Field Robotics Laboratory and IMU Robotics Club, whose consultancy is carried out by Asst. Prof. Haluk BAYRAM, a faculty member of the Division of Control and Command Systems of the Department, participated in the International Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition held between 13-18 September 2021 within the scope of Teknofest. It achieved a great success by receiving the 3rd prize in the fixed wing domesticity category.
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system which was designed and produced in line with the TUBITAK International UAV Competition has a take-off weight of 1.6 kg and a wingspan of 200 cm. The UAV can perform fully autonomous take-off, cruise flight and landing missions in hand-launching configuration. The software developed by the team detects and localize the target. With the developed ground station interface software, the UAV and all the flight parameters can be monitored in real-time from the ground. In line with the competition tasks, the UAV can autonomously drop a payload to the coordinate where the target is. The developed autonomous flight software and ground station software placed Team IMU FW the 3rd rank in Fixed Wing Originality category.
